Art Books and Mixed Media Collage

Cards and Prints are now available!

These mixed media “narrative collages” are made from traditional collage materials: paper, glue, and paint. Many are sewing machine stitched, particularly the art book pages. A few of the book covers and boxes are made from recycled or re-purposed wood and book boards.

Beyond the textural materials such as handmade papers and fabrics, other visual materials can include my own discarded lithographs and drawings. I also scour old books and re-assemble various extracted parts into new images. Once formed, they are then partially overpainted with acrylics. Most of the collages have a mini-myth or story, usually tongue-in-cheek, and frequently a tiny bit preposterous.

Each art book is separate from the solo collages and are one-off, stand alone. To date none are editions. One example is a Japanese style, boxed portfolio, which is part of the art and story on the loose leaf pages contained inside. It is entitled, “Figmentosum Oceanum” and is in the collection of C. Sears, major art book collector.  It has twice been on display in the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Sherry Grover Art Book Room. About nine of my books are in the collection and are often found on display in the museum.
